Dash In Food Stores Inc. Gives Back!
Supporting the local communities we serve.
Dash In sets goals for giving each and every year, just as it sets goals for the stores operations.
It is very important to our organization that we give back to the communities we serve states Larry Derrow, Dash In Vice President and General Manager. Dash In is a major contributor to MDA and holds an annual golf classic each year at Crofton Country Club, where it raises about $100,000. The annual golf classic is sold out each year. In addition to the annual golf classic, Dash In begins in the fall and sells MDA Football mobiles; you can vote on your favorite team and donate to your favorite charity at the same time. In the summer months our stores sell camp mobiles to allow our MDA kids a chance at going to camp. It cost over $800 for one kid to attend camp and this is the highlight of the kid's year.
For 2009 during a major recession, donor reluctance, and a sinking stock market, Dash In still managed to have the best Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) campaign year ever. The chain helped raise $145,000, which was presented on Labor Day at the 44th annual Jerry Lewis Telethon in Washington D.C.
We have the best customers and vendors anywhere states Derrow, it is only with their help that we can achieve the goals we set every year.
In the past 8 years, Dash In Food Stores have raised over $500,000 for MDA.
Dash In does not stop with just MDA campaign donations. Each year, the management staff participates in sponsoring the summer camp held at Camp Maria, and serves the campers a dinner to remember. When you see the joy in the campers' faces, well... it is hard to express the feeling you get. The real heroes are the many volunteers who assist at the camp every year. They stay for 1 week at a time and the ratio of workers to Campers is 1 on 1.
In addition to MDA, Dash In contributes each year too many local events at schools, and youth events.
Dash In's total contributions to charities for 2009 will exceed $155,000.
We remain committed to helping our charities.
